Production Crew Visits Motherhouse

The Sisters of Charity welcomed Tomas Sanchez and crew to the Motherhouse on Monday, Aug. 22. Mr. Sanchez is director and co-producer of the television series “At the End of the Santa Fe Trail” to be based on S. Blandina Segale’s life. The group is at the Motherhouse this week to learn more about the life of S. Blandina. Principal filming is set to begin in October.

Allen Sanchez, petitioner of Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Blandina Segale’s cause for canonization, visited the set of “At the End of the Santa Fe Trail” this past weekend. Cast and crew are currently filming S. Blandina on a moving 1872 train. After nine days of filming and a few weeks of editing, Episode 1 of the television series will be finished. According to Sanchez, “These people have really made Blandina part of their life.  I am amazed to see her story come alive in front of my eyes; they are capturing her spirit on film. I have heard so many crew members tell me they are praying to Blandina, it is moving.”

his week, the Sisters of Charity have hosted the production team working on the creation of a television series based on Servant of God S. Blandina Segale’s life. Among those at the Motherhouse are Tomas Sanchez, director and producer of the project, Mark Stenig, executive producer, and Alma Sisneros, the actress who will be playing S. Blandina. Ms. Sisneros had the opportunity to visit with Sisters Annina Morgan and Loretto Burke to research her character; both Sisters had the privilege of meeting S. Blandina in her later years. Crew members spent time in the Sisters of Charity Archives learning more about S. Blandina’s life and legacy.

Filming on the television series “At the End of the Santa Fe Trail” – based on the life of Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Blandina Segale - continues in Colorado. S. Carol Marie Power had the opportunity to visit the set this past weekend and meet with cast members and crew.
